Our History

The Texas Kappa Chapter of Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity was chartered on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington on December 14, 1968.  Its original member base was born of 13 members of Alpha Sigma Chi, the oldest fraternity at UTA, who sought affiliation with a national fraternity.

Over 1,200 men (and counting) have signed the Bond of Phi Delta Theta at UTA where we have excelled in leadership, academics, athletics, and community service.   UTA Phi Delt alumni include men who have attained all range of success, including educators, business owners, doctors, artists, lawyers, clergy, public servants and even an Olympic Gold medalist.

Phi Delta Theta is one of few fraternities at UTA that enforces alcohol free housing.    Phi Delta Theta offers a perpetual scholarship fund that awards merit based scholarships each semester, as well as an alumni-student career mentoring program.

Join the unique Brotherhood of Phi Delta Theta at UTA, where TOGETHER we honor our cardinal principles of Friendship, Sound Learning, and Rectitude!

Fraternity is not just a word for us.

By celebrating each person’s true self, and by learning from each other’s strengths while helping improve each other’s weaknesses, every member of Phi Delta Theta develops into a greater version of himself than he could ever on his own.

Friendship

Friendship is what makes someone commit an act of bravery; it is what makes one decide to do something about the problems within his community. It is what shapes the minds of fraternity men who go on to shape the world.

Sound Learning

Academics play a vital role in the Phi Delta Theta fraternity life as we hope to shape our young men into well-rounded individuals by the time they graduate. We want every member to enjoy college to its highest potential, and we understand that the greatest enjoyment and fulfillment from college comes from achievements made in the classroom.

We also strive to assist all of our members in becoming successful in their post-graduate years. In order to try and ensure every members future, we encourage the best grades possible. Every member is expected to live up to the guidelines set forth by the fraternity.

Moral Rectitude

The Chapter House

The UTA Phi Delta Theta house is the biggest house on campus with a backyard consisting of a basketball hoop, cornhole, sand volleyball pit, grill and much more. Inside the house you can always find brothers studying in our library, watching games in the living room, playing ping pong or super smash in the chapter room or upstairs in their room. If you would ever like a tour, please contact Zach Stryker at (817) 226-5778.
